Kindness After The Storm is a visual allegory of the artist’s grandparents’ resilience after living through the Spanish Civil War postwar period and Franco’s fascist regime, during which their childhoods were marked by poverty, fear of persecution, and the hurt their families were suffering from living through the war. Despite the horrendous times they lived in, they managed to overcome the difficulties and break the cycle of pain and mistreatment.
Marta Gómez Hervás is a visual artist and illustrator from Seville, Spain. She is graduated in Fine Arts by Universidad de Sevilla. Her works evolves around the visual representation of non material matters related to human connection and inner worlds. Through exploration of the core essence of these ideas, Hervás creates surreal allegories. Said allegories mainly consist in ethereal spaces inhabitated by captivating characters and symbols. Her style is founded on a distinct aesthetic walking through the border between darkness and light, looking foward a strange sense of beauty that resembles dreams yet highly naturalistic.
