J.A. Lagana
J. A. Lagana is a writer and poet from Pennsylvania.…
It is after all, a rough time.
Muck and mud. Forsythia raging.
Frigid sky for miles. Every hint of green
that pushes through undauntedly
will flourish with the certainty
of brighter days ahead.
Behold as small deaths give way.
Bittercress crocus blue phlox
forcibly breaking ground, reestablishing
their rightful places
by last season’s remnants. The ground
steadying for more to come.

Bittercress crocus blue phlox

in the strewn thawing acres
of fields nearly overcomeby last season’s remnants. The ground
steadying for more to come.
