You go each
night, collect yourself from
corners like a lover leaving. Oceans
collapse, shipwreck themselves over
beaches and coral, draw whale laments
to their hearts. Heaven splits open, raining
thin streams of stars that hold hands in your
wake. I am indifferent, powder my face with a
cloud, pull the dark through my hair. I lullaby
creatures you never see, pick up my skirt to
hopscotch with midnight. I bewitch dreams
into being so they tiptoe from pillows, give
madness a silver-lined meaning. And
when birds clear their throats, I ghost
my goodbye, as you shoulder
torn skies to birth
morning.
