Letter From The Editors

Black and white illustration of a celestial chart

Dearest Readers,

Can you believe that it’s been six months since we launched The Hyacinth Review? We’ve been fortunate enough to have amazing contributors and supporters throughout this endeavor and as we open for submissions once again we’d like to take the time to thank you all once more.

Since we launched in December 2021 we’ve had two open calls and received hundreds of pieces from creators around the world. It’s humbling to be trusted with the work of so many amazing individuals, and it’s a trust we take very seriously. We’ve also opened our merch shop and – our personal favorite – an Author’s Picks section at the bottom of our homepage, where you can view the favorite books of our published authors.

And now for the most important news: we’re thrilled to announce that we are once again open for submissions under the theme Divine until July 12th, 2022. This open call is for all mediums so send us your poetry, creative writing, essays, columns, art, photography, film, and music – we can’t wait to see it!

As you know, our first open call theme was Flora in honor of our launch and the name of our journal. This time we’ve chosen Divine, to celebrate all that is sacred, celestial, and transcendent. As with all of our themes, we like to leave the interpretation up to you, but here are a few keywords to inspire and guide you as you choose your pieces for submission:

  • Heavenly
  • Angelic
  • Celestial
  • Unearthly
  • Ambrosial
  • Sacred
  • Hallowed
  • Rapturous
  • Transcendent
  • Almighty
  • Sacramental
  • Supreme

As usual, you can send us your work via our Submissions Page. We look forward to receiving your pieces, and thank you again for trusting us your work.

Warmest wishes,

Ariel K. Moniz & Terri Pinyerd
