hymn for the body & blood

abstract painting in shades of black and brown depicting a human form in stages of motion
i am always kneeling at the wrong altars: making saints of sinners, consecrating their flesh with my tongue, reburying the resurrected, extracting god like tooth from cavity, casting wishes on votive candles, blowing them out like birthday cakes, playing mermaids in the baptismal font, surfacing untransformed, repackaging salvation, returning it unopened, confessing nothing, transgressing everything, lassoing the angels, dragging them back to earth.
