Beginner’s Mind, Again

Impressionist sketch of a pine tree on an otherwise blank canvas
Wading through pasture grass after dew's drenching Each step a spray of fractured glass Standing in verticle allegiance with a pine, stretching, always stretching— because its trunk is scoliotic, holding compressed weight as my own spine crooks I watch woodpecker, waxwing attending umbrels of elderberry, like seeded chandeliers until, a bit drunk, drop to the ground to get their bearings Grounded but not placeless and since they are not, neither am I which is a daily relief Tree line open field sunlight on golden stalks leaves shivering never seen before every day.
