A Poem For The Seabound

A Poem For The Seabound

With the beat of the waves I can feel your presence
Your long arms stretching across the Atlantic
Or maybe the Pacific
Shrouded with iron
Secrets held tight in the deep

I wish I could summon you
Cut the throat of a lamb on the shore
Make a dark sandcastle in your name
I’d decorate it with prized pieces of sea glass
Barely broken shells
Shards of fossils
But I know you would not come

You’ll come back when the sea spits you out
Dry and grey and frozen in time
